‘From (Bare) Field to Fork:
Development of a Local Smallholding’

Ilsington Village Hall Meeting Room – Free Entry
7:30pm Tuesday 16th September 2014

On Tuesday 16th September I will be giving an illustrated talk (of about an hour, with time for questions) at Ilsington Village Hall Meeting Room – doors from 7:15pm for 7:30 start. This free event has three complementary aims:

  • to provide an overview of what I have done/am doing by way of developing 6 acres of permanent pasture into a mixed smallholding – including my guiding interests of permaculture and resilience;
  • to set out my approach to producing meat that is nutritious and tasty;
  • (unashamedly) to encourage participants to purchase some of my produce!

Produce Availability

The primary marketing aim of the session (as distinct from the information-sharing aims, which are of equal importance – whether you choose to buy my meat or not) is to sell one or two Dexter Beef Boxes (gourmet quality meat at an affordable price!) that will be available in November 2014. I won’t be too disappointed if I don’t sell any boxes though, as this is as much a social-marketing experiment as anything else – and I definitely won’t be using any dodgy sales techniques or putting any pressure on people to buy from me! In any case, I might not have enough Dexter Boxes to sell if as little as eight five four attendees* decided to purchase a box. I should also have some Shetland Mutton (joints as well as Merguez & Gourmet Moroccan sausages) available.

Even if you might not be buying any meat, come along if you would like to hear about what I am doing – and why.

*watch this space – boxes are selling in the meantime! If you are interested in coming to see the livestock before this event, with a view to making a purchase of meat, then do get in touch; details below.
